The New Home

Why We Need You

Third Coast has always been more than just a comedy club — we're home to Nashville's comedy community. For nine years, we've been the place where local comedians find their voice, where artists connect with audiences, and where strangers become friends over shared laughs and good (and cheap) drinks.

Now, we’re asking that community to step up in a big way.

Why This Matters Beyond Third Coast

When you support our move to East Nashville, you're not just saving one comedy club. You are:

  • Preserving affordable space for emerging comedians to develop their craft

  • Keeping Nashville's comedy scene independent and locally-owned

  • Supporting a business that hires local talent and buys from local vendors

  • Ensuring East Nashville has a community gathering space for years to come

  • Proving that grassroots fundraising can work when a community comes together

Nashville's comedy scene doesn't happen without places like Third Coast. And Third Coast doesn't happen without people like you. Thank you for your support.

a letter from the founders

Hello Third Coast Fans and Family,

As you may have heard, Third Coast must move by the end of September, though we’re optimistic we can remain until the end of December. While we’re grateful for the time we’ve spent in the Marathon Village community of local makers and businesses, the landlord has decided to focus on daytime retailers and no longer wants evening businesses or activities in the building. This decision has forced us to search for a new theater space.

Over the past 15 months, we’ve conducted a thorough search for properties throughout the city. The search has been challenging given current real estate conditions and our unique needs as a theater and comedy club. Finally, in April, we found an ideal location: a former funeral home in East Nashville that would be perfect for Third Coast and allow us to continue growing our shows, classes, and bar.

This potential new home is a great fit in nearly every way—location, size, and monthly rent—but it requires significant work before we can move in and open our doors to the community. The original structure of the main building is over one hundred years old and we need to make some necessary improvements (i.e. a fire sprinkler system, upgraded electrical system, and a new elevator) before we can do a proper buildout for the theater.

We’ve met with several banks, contractors, and financial institutions, and have been unable to secure a loan of more than $250,000—a consistent figure across multiple lenders. That amount would barely cover the elevator and fire sprinkler system. According to our contractors, we need a minimum of $750,000. We’re currently far short of that target.

That is where you come in. We are starting a fundraiser.

We’ve created a form for those able and willing to help, with two options: a donation or a loan. These pledges will help us understand the level of community support and find a path forward.

Thank you for being a part of what we set out to create nine years ago and here’s to decades of comedy to come—for and by locals!

As part of our ongoing effort to stay connected with the people who make Third Coast what it is, owners Scott and Luke are hosting a Community Happy Hour on Monday, June 30 at 6:00 PM. We’ll buy the first round for anyone who comes by—whether you want to share ideas, ask questions, or simply say hello. We plan to make this a quarterly event.

Thank you for your continued support!

With gratitude,

Scott, Luke & the Third Coast Team
